1.What problems in your community did your team try to solve? Why is this problem important to your community?

The problem in our community is that we are trying to solve tooth discoloration caused by soda. This problem is important in our community because the ingredients in sodas are affecting the color of teeth for thousands of people every day. Furthermore this is a problem for people of all ages because more and more people seem to have a preferences in sodas. The process in which the teeth change color starts with the soda, when it slowly starts taking away the protective enamel of the tooth which makes the tooth vulnerable and more likely to discolor. If we can stop people from drinking soda we will be able to have a community with people that have nicer and stronger teeth. Also they would have knowledge of the damage certain sodas have on your teeth and what soda does to your teeth.

Complete your research (e.g., websites, professional journals, periodicals, subject matter experts). Use multiple types of resources and do not limit

yourself to only websites
1. We asked Arianna for teeth.
2. We asked our parents for the four drinks.

3.Describe what you learned in your research.
Based on our research our group learned that one of the causes of tooth discoloration is related to soda. It is actually one of the main reasons. For example some sodas like coca-cola cause hypersensitivity discoloration and cracks on your teeth. Our research also shows that soda could cause your enamel to change from being smooth to rough and more vulnerable towards the syrups in sodas that cause tooth discoloration. We also learned that sprite has a greater effect on turning a tooth yellow, because of the amount of sugar it has. Also consuming beverages such as soda, result in being adsorbed into the tooth's surfaces causing the color of the tooth to change yellow.
Overall soda is not good for your teeth for the following reasons soda could permanently damage and stain teeth. In our research we learned that your genes affect the color of your tooth. We also learned that abnormal tooth color is any color other than white to yellowish-white. Also that too much fluoride from environmental sources like tooth paste cause tooth discoloration. Some sodas will cause the tooth to change colors, and some will make holes on the tooth. If you drink to much soda it can cause your teeth to change color. Research shows that soda discoloration can eventually cause cavities in your teeth. Lastly if you don't want your teeth to have cavities, cracks, and discoloration then don't drink as much soda as you would.
